Assistant Professor Position Summary: The new appointee will be expected to teach within the undergraduate level chemistry program as well as develop and teach graduate level couses in their area of speciality. The appointee will develop a research program in chemical education or an area that is relevant to the needs of the Oil/Gas and greater energy sector and that will provide oppurtunities for both undergraduate and graduate student participation. In addition, the new appointee will be expected to contribute to the chemistry department, the Arts and Sciences program, and the Petroleum Institute through various service functions. Main Duties: Teach Undergraduate chemistry courses (general, organic and /or physical) and graduate courses in area of speciality. Establish and maintain a research program which provided oppurtunities for undergraduate and graduate student participation. Support and participate in the duties of the chemistry department, the Arts and Sciences Program and the Petroleum Institute. Key Performance Indicators: Quality of teaching (teaching portfolio) Quality of research (funding support, publishable results, participation of students, collaboration with chemistry and engineering faculty and industrial partners) Level of contributions to activities and functions linked to teh chemistry department, the arts and sciences program the Petroleum Institute and PI sponsors. Qualification: Ph.D in chemistry Teaching qualification an advantage
